Albert Serra and José Luis Guerin, protagonists at the Locarno Film FestivalCatalan production triumphs in the parallel sections
The Locarno International Film Festival, held from August 3rd to 13th, has become a world showcase of the latest in Catalan arthouse cinema.
During the festival, director Albert Serra will show two productions, Los Nombres de Cristo (The names of Christ) and El señor ha hecho en mí maravillas (Lord Worked Wonders in Me). As well as this Serra's first feature film Honor de Cavalleria (Honor of the knights) is the subject of an audiovisual presentation by Lisandro Alonso, which will also be shown at the festival.
Another Catalan presence is director José Luis Guerin, who will screen Memorias de una mañana (Memories of a Morning), a piece that was made for the Jeonju Festival and shown under the Jeonju Digital Project section.
Following accreditation by the FIAPF, the Locarno Festival is now recognised as world-class.
The editorial content is driven by the artistic director Olivier Père, former director of the Quinzaine des Réalisateurs, who has a leaning towards arthouse cinema.
