The announcement of the candidates to the Spanish Film Academy's Goya Awards reveals an excellent yield of nominations, with fifteen Catalan productions that cover nearly every category. Three films particularly stand out in the ranking: No habrá paz para los malvados / No Peace for the Wicked, Eva and Blackthorn, which boast 14, 12 and 11 nominations, respectively.

Also significant is the Catalan industry's presence by category, as is the case of the Best Animated Film category, which includes both Arrugas / Wrinkles and Papá, soy una zombie / Daddy, I'm a Zombie, accounting for two of the four films nominated. Catalan productions account for the same proportion of nominations in other categories, including Best Film, Best Director, and Best New Director, among others. What's more, the Best Original Screenplay category features four Catalan films, meaning that this award is sure to fall into the hands of a Catalan production.

Moreover, the Best Fiction Short Film category includes El barco pirata / The Pirate Ship, a Bastian Films production that was recently selected to form part of the Short Cat programme.
