The Festival Internacional de Cine de Guadalajara postponed due to COVID-19 pandemic, will be finally held from 20th to 27th of November. The festival includes 6 Catalan films in its line-up.
Belén Funes’ debut film A Thief’s Daughter (Oberon Cinematográfica, BTEAM Prods) played by Eduard Fernández and Greta Fernández will compete in the the Official Selection – Iberoamerican Feature Film. A a riveting portrait of a sensitive but strong young woman fighting against a world determined to keep her down.
The Clash, by Diego Vega and Daniel Vega (Escándalo Films, Maretazo Cine, Corte Films SAS) has also been selected to participate in this section.
Furthermore, Josep (Imagic, Les Films d’Ici, Méditerranéel) the animation film directed by Aurel with the seal of the Official Selection of Cannes’ Festival will be featured in the International Animation Feature Film section. The film shows Josep Bartoli’s story, an anti-Franco fighter and designer exiled in a concentration camp in France at the beginning of Franco’s dictatorship.
Additionally, in the section A Mexican Festival - Guanajuato Film Festival the public will be able to watch Ida Cuéllar's production, The Secret Behind Doctor Grinberg (Polar Star Films, PRIMO), previously released at the Guanajato Film Festival being the most popular film among the audience and the most sought-after on the festival’s digital platform.
Besides, after having been at Malaga’s Festival and at Atlántida Film Fest, Ángeles Hernández and David Matamoros’ debut film Isaac (Mr Miyagi Films) travels to Guadalajara’s festival. The film will compete in the Maguey Award section.
Finally, in the Iberoamerican Short Flim section will be shown La mugre’s short film directed by Pau Bosch and Berta Galvany (Universitat Pompeu Fabra).
