Catalan Films to showcase Catalan animation projects at MIPTV

The event, now in its 58th year, will take place online from 12 to 16 April.

 

MIPTV, considered the longest-running international television market and traditionally held in Cannes every April, is adopting an exclusively online format for the second year in a row due to the health crisis. 

 

Digital MIPTV will bring together distributors, producers, buyers and commissioning editors of drama, documentary, kids and informative programming and programming formats in a week of one-on-one meetings planned by the organisation along with networking sessions, workshops, presentations and conferences.

This year, Catalan Films joins internationally recognised major brands as an official sponsor of the event and will work actively to promote actions such as the Catalan animation showcase.

Catalan Films' showcase will focus on animated series. Producers of five projects currently in development will present their work to the international industry at an event led by Catalan Films' coordinator, Mar Medir.  

 

The animated series to be featured at the event, which will stream live on the Digital MIPTV platform on 12 April at 9:30am, are: 

 

  • Les tres bessones/The Triplets, a Brutal Media productionA remake of the beloved show about some mischievous triplets that has captured the hearts of audiences around the world for two decades.  Back with the same fresh look but updated to be more in synch with the times, the triplets are ready for new adventures. 
  • Mironins, produced by Cornelius Films, Walking the Dog, Wuji House and Peekaboo Animation, is an animated transmedia project that draws the viewer into a universe of tiny beings who live in the paintings of Joan Miró and go wandering the museum dedicated to the illustrious painter when night falls. 
  •  Agus & Monsters, a Motion Pictures production, is a fantasy-adventure comedy which, without being didactic, puts us in a constant struggle between good and evil. It also proposes clearly universal values: solidarity, friendship, collaboration, diversity, empathy.... 

 

  • My Little Heroesproduced by Peekaboo Animation and based on the successful book series, empowers children from all walks of life and shows that we can all be heroes if we try. 

 

  • Croco Doc, produced by Nuts Ideas for RTVE, is a 2D animated series targeting preschoolers that teaches children about different illnesses and to not be afraid of going to the doctor. A series that entertains, informs and educates. 

 

Finally, 18 Catalan companies working in the production, distribution, festivals and sales sectors will be taking part in the market: Brutal Media, KaBoGa art & films, Motion Pictures, Filmax, VisionaTV, D'Ocon Films, Peekaboo Animation, The Mediapro Studio, Mediacrest, Nuts Idea, Art Mood Entertainment, Planeta Junior, Adrenalyn Media, Cesca Films, S.L.U., ZOOM Igualada, Serielizados Fest, Orkestra Studio and Televisió de Catalunya.
