A poetic approach to the island of Lanzarote.
The Lanzarote-born artist César Manrique (1919-1992) suggested new perspectives on this landscape creating windows, viewpoints and roads which would provide the foundations for a new interpretation of the island up to then seen as a wasteland.
Starting from this immaterial legacy, the film proposes a reading of the landscape through its configurating motifs: a bush, a stone, a crack in the lava, the footprint of an aboriginal princess, the abandoned boats of the African refugees ...
In the images beats the desire to fuse the photochemical grain of the celluloid in 16mm, b / n, with the mineral texture of the basalt that covers the island.
