synopsis

The counts who govern the catalan counties of the 11th century are submitted in a fight for obtaining the power on the region after having obtained the independence of the Carolingian empire. After the sudden murder of the count of Besalú directed by the count Hug, his brother Bernat de Tallafero, inherits the county. To provide to the county of a defense before a possible invasion, Tallaferro comes to the famous and retired builder Primo Lombardo, with the hope to be able to convince him that he constructs the bridge of besalú. Primo Lombardo who is imprisoned in his humble farm from the death of his wife, 17 years behind, accepts the offer and part towards Besalú with his son Itram.
The conspiracy directed by the count Hug of Empúries has as aim prevent the construction of the bridge and Tallaferro's defeat. Cousin tries to overcome the difficulties in the construction of the bridge and Itram fights to save the cultural distance that it separates from Jezabel, a Jewish girl with which he falls in love.
