The year 1991: the old USSR disintegrates and Cuba enters a huge economic crisis. Sergio, a radio ham and professor of Marxism, doesn't know how to get his life back on track and provide for his family. Meanwhile Serguei, the last Soviet cosmonaut, finds himself nearly forgotten on the broken-down space station Mir. Thanks to their radio equipment, Sergio and Serguei are able to communicate and develop a friendship that will help them face the drastic changes transforming their respective countries.
