The 32nd edition of Sunny Side of the Doc, the market place for documentary and narrative experiences, will be held online from June 21-24. Each year, the event brings together broadcasters, decision makers, financing bodies, distributors, content creators and producers from around the world to sell or buy projects and programmes, and to find the right co-production partners.
Two Catalan projects have been selected among 42 projects from 18 different countries in the Pitching sessions. Projects that stand out due to their originality, international potential and continuous search for new ways of storytelling: Retorn a Raqq/Return to Raqqa, directed by Albert Solé (Minimal Films), chronicles what was perhaps the most famous kidnapping event in history: when 19 journalists were taken captive by the Islamic State, as told by one of its protagonists, Spanish reporter Marc Marginedas, who was also the first captive to be released. Furthermore, La trampa dels clics/The Click Trap, by Peter Porta (Polar Star Films, Yuzu Productions) that reevals through carefully researched stories in Europe, the US, and Asia, and the insight of experts in digital marketing and advertising ethics, the dark side of Google’s ad machine.
Catalan Films once again will be attending the market with a virtual stand to present Catalan companies attending and projectes selected.
