El Festival de Cinema Internacional del Caire té com a objectiu destacar el paper d'Egipte en el món del cinema i vol servir com un pont entre cultures. El festival és uns dels 15 festivals amb categoria "A" per la FIAPF i a més es el festival de pel.lícules més antic del món àrab, àfrica i d'orient mitjà.
